Christian Principals: Salvation and Prayer? As a Christian we all want to see our friends come to know God. We tell them about our faith, we invite them to church, we tell them how we feel about Jesus and then ask them if they want to "pray" and ask Jesus into their hearts. To the people who don't know Jesus in the world, this really sounds like a funny idea "ask someone into your heart!? How's that happen? HA!" is what these people may think. We expect the world to know what prayer is when the sad truth is, not everyone knows how to pray, or even what prayer is. So when we tell someone all they have to do to become saved is to accept Jesus and ask for forgiveness with a prayer to God, we sometimes may forget to explain to them what prayer is. What is Prayer? Prayer to a Christian is something that is special. Praying to God is simple, He hears us when we pray out loud and He hears us when we pray in our heart. Prayer is how we communicate to God, how we ask for forgiveness and tell Him we love Him. Prayer is the basis of understanding what it means to be a Christian. Without prayer, it isn't really possible to be saved. We must pray to ask for forgiveness of our sins. When we pray, we talk to our King, the King of the Universe, the One Who created Heaven, earth, and hell, as well as everything in these places. Prayer is simple, just TALK TO GOD IN YOUR OWN WORDS IN YOUR HEART ALOUD OR SILENT, God hears our Prayers. 1Ki 8:45 then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. 2Ch 6:40 Now, O my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place. |
